Shantou High-Performance Separation Membrane Innovation Consortium Officially Established, OSPURA Leads in Building an Industrial Innovation Engine

On January 8, the Shantou High-Performance Separation Membrane Innovation Consortium was officially inaugurated and unveiled in the Shantou Comprehensive Bonded Zone! As the first innovation consortium in Shantou City, this platform is led by Guangdong OSPURA Membrane Material Technology Co., Ltd. (OSPURA) and jointly established with Shantou University, the Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemical Engineering, Wave Cyber (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (Wave Cyber), and Shanghai Kunsai Technology Development Co., Ltd. It aims to integrate the “industry-university-research-application” pathway in the high-performance separation membrane field.


As a national-level specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and innovative “Little Giant” enterprise and a leader in China’s membrane separation sector, OSPURA has always been driven by technological innovation. It has successfully achieved the localization and industrialization of high-performance membrane materials such as reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes, with products widely used in critical areas including material separation, water treatment, and civil/commercial applications. Leading the establishment of this innovation consortium is a significant initiative for the company in fulfilling its mission to “empower industrial upgrading through technological innovation.”

At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Xie Jianxin, Chairman of the company, clearly stated that the consortium will focus on the global industrial challenge of resource utilization of concentrated brine, a by-product of seawater desalination. It aims to fully develop a comprehensive technological system for the “concentrated brine → high-value minerals → advanced materials” chain, which is expected to cultivate an industrial scale worth tens of billions of yuan. This will propel related industries toward a new track of efficient resource utilization and sustainable development. This strategic layout, grounded in industry pain points and aligned with green development trends, demonstrates the responsibility and foresight of OSPURA as a leading enterprise.

Concurrently, the consortium has established a technical committee and appointed Professor Huang Xiaochun, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shantou University, Director of the Research Department, and Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemical Engineering, as its chairman to lead the technical research and development. In the future, all parties will leverage their complementary strengths to collaboratively conduct research and development on key common technologies and accelerate the translation of laboratory achievements into practical applications.


The “Shantou City Innovation Consortium Construction Work Guidelines (Trial)” issued simultaneously by the Shantou Science and Technology Bureau provides precise support across four dimensions: project application, platform construction, talent incentives, and financial empowerment, ensuring the standardized operation and efficient development of the innovation consortium.
